Shooting Miss Perry

As a photographer, my job covers many genres, and each requires its own skill set. I am still developing, and I always will be like in any walk of life, but what makes my development easier is the willing and competent abilities of local model, Rebecca Perry.

Many times I have been asked to do a boudoir type shoot, but so often, as the days count down, the client will get cold feet and pull out, and often then, Rebecca will step in so I can get some portfolio work, and so can she.

I have worked with Rebecca many times, and as the years have passed, she herself is becoming a more versatile and confident model. We work with each other to create the types of shots we feel we'd both benefit from.

On top of having a model, you need a location. I am lucky that I was able to use a newly refurbished regency house, in Cheltenham, the Montpellier House.
I have photographed here a couple of times before and there really is no place quite like it.
The shoot wasn't to show off Montpellier House, although from the photographs you can get a feel for the type of wonderful place it is, with decor and ornaments you can actually buy when you leave!

Myself and Rebecca wanted a classy, clean and relaxed type of shoot, and I feel these photographs reflect and deliver the results.

I hope you enjoy - many thanks, Rob

There is a fine line between shooting classic nudes, and stepping over the line where the photographs become pornographic, and in my opinion far less appealing. For me it is about shooting the body, the looks, getting inside the soul via the eyes and the expression. It is about using available light, and adding light to create the look you're after. Every minute we grow older and our bodies fade, so to capture the natural form and have it forever preserved via the medium of photography is to me, essential.

And so to the bedroom... A huge sash window lets light stream in causing shadows to fall from the 4 poster bed. Getting the angles right in the room, and filling in the shadows with enough flash not ruin the shot was a challenge, but I feel it cam together in the end, and through Rebecca's modelling ability, the final part of the shoot came together with ease.
